A parent mentioned that she would like if I would suggest some books in Spanish that connect with the content in the Spanish for You! themes. It was a great idea!
So, here are my first two suggestions. I found these books at my local library. Both are written in Spanish and English. This is great because the students can see things they know, but are able to read other things they have not learned yet. And, in the process, they will learn some new things.
The first book, Celebrations by Nancy María Grande Tabor, talks about many celebrations including Day of the Dead and Easter which are found in the Spanish for You! Fiestas book.
The second book, Oso en casa by Stella Blackstone and Debbie Marter, is about a bear in the house. This would be a great book for students using any of the Spanish for You! themes. The use of verbs, vocabulary, and grammar are things the students will connect with in different ways depending on the Spanish for You! book they are using.
So, take a look at your library to see if you can find them. I will keep looking for more great books to share with you that I think the students would like.
If you run across something you would like to share, drop me a note at email@example.com, I would be happy to pass on your suggestion. If you are a blogger or have a site of your own, I would be happy to mention you and your web address.
