Something I have found that students like is when I put a "challenge sentence" in Spanish on the board before beginning class that they have to try and figure out. The sentence always involves using verb conjugation and grammar concepts they have been learning. BUT, the sentence will contain vocabulary and verbs they have not necessarily seen before. They have to use what they know to figure out what the sentence means.
For a while now I have been posting some challenge sentences on my company Facebook page, but I thought it might be a good idea to post them on this blog regularly (which will then automatically post to the Facebook page too) so that more students who might be interested in decoding "challenge sentences" could do so.
I will post challenge sentences every Monday, and then I will post the answers on Wednesday. So, even though today is Friday, I will post our first challenge sentences. On Monday I will post the answers to these as well as new challenge sentences.
FOR FIESTAS STUDENTS:
1. Estamos saltando la cuerda en este parque bonito.
2. Ellos barren el piso más que lo trapean. (This one is more difficult. See how you do!)
FOR ESTACIONES STUDENTS:
1. No nos gusta trepar a los árboles cuando está nevando.
2. Cuando tengo prisa, siempre corro muy rápido a la escuela.
Check back on Monday for the answers! ¡Hasta pronto!
