I thought I would start putting up some one page mini grammar lessons including an audio that readers may find useful.
Yesterday I was reminding one of my high school classes that there is no 's in Spanish, and what is used instead. We were also reviewing other ways to say something belongs to someone. So, that was the prompt for this grammar mini.
I try to establish the non-existence of 's with students as early on as possible because I have seen advanced students surprisingly try to use it. So, from time to time I ask students, "What takes the place of 's in Spanish?" They usually grin and say, "de plus the person's name." And I follow with, "So, never, ever, EVER, use 's in Spanish!" All in good humor, of course!
I hope you enjoy this Grammar Mini. It is available on my Free Mini Lessons page.
¡Y que tengas un buen día! (And have a nice day!)
